Climate change posed a serious challenge to the agriculture systems not only given its implications for food security and livelihoods but also given the current agrarian distress characterized by declining growth rates in yield, depleting soil fertility, and receding groundwater resources, rising cultivation costs, and inflation.
Green public procurement (GPP) is a component of sustainable public procurement that uses public sector purchasing to achieve environmental policy objectives and for green growth. GPP is a process which involves consciously and systematically factoring environmental goals during the procurement of goods, services and works by public agencies. The ESRs indicate the city’s growth factors, environmental concerns and impacts. As per the guidelines published in June 2009, by the Department of Environment, Government of Maharashtra, the ESR has to be developed as per the D-P-S-I-R (Driving Force-Pressure- State -Impact- Response) framework.
Energy efficiency is said to be one of the easiest and most cost-effective climate change mitigation strategies and plays a vital role in reducing energy demand and energy wastage. With an aspiration to become a USD 5 trillion economy and with a revised NDC target, India has unique challenges in providing energy security to its vast population and ensuring energy transition. It becomes important to deliberate on the merits and methods of energy efficiency goals and targets in India.

TERI successfully implemented RBF installations along several major rivers in southern India which includes the Kali river, Krishna river, Tungabhadra river and Kapila River in Karnataka and the Sal River in Goa together with lakes that showed the feasibility of the RBF treatment approach in Southern India. Our RBF rural systems implemented were designed for rural communities of about 2,000 to 5,000 people, but larger systems are feasible.
