CEIL has been carried out hydrocarbon exploration in the Districts of Barmer and Jalore in north-western Rajasthan. The exploration and drilling operation generates wastes that are classified as hazardous due to presence of hydrocarbon compounds. These wastes comprise of drill cuttings, spent drilling fluid and oil contaminated wastes.
As part of its efforts to further the regulatory reform process in India, TERI is organizing a National Conference on 'Regulatory Performance in India: Achievements, Constraints and Future Action' on November 9-10, 2006 at Silver Oak, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
