Setting up of Micro Solar PV Power Plants (MSPVPP) in primary and upper primary schools in the rural and backward region of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Meghalaya

Lack of reliable sources of energy in remote hilly areas has been a major challenge. Though the government has accelerated its efforts towards provisioning of grid in these areas there are issues related to reliable supply of power. TERI with the support from Signify Innovation India Ltd is working on a project to provide power from solar energy for primary, middle, and residential schools in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Meghalaya.

Kumaon Vani Community Radio - 90.4 MHz

The radio station is run by youth from the local community, under TERI's supervision.

Kumaon Vani radio station was set up by TERI in March 2010 in Nainital district of Uttarakhand with the aim of bringing together communities across several villages in the Kumaon region.

Project STARs: Sustainable Tracking, Action and Reporting in Schools

Project STARs - a pioneering ESD project in the state of Goa explored the principles of sustainable development through the adoption of the 3C sustainable school concept. It was a three year project (2013-2016) jointly implemented by the Dempo Group of Companies, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) across 10 schools in Goa. Project 'STARs' sought to inspire and encourage schools to practice the principles of sustainability by focusing on its environmental and socio-cultural performance.

Ecological baseline assessment and biodiversity mapping of coastal ecosystem

A project supported by GIZ assesses the ecological baseline of the coastal marine protected area – the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Chorao, Goa. The broad objectives of this project is conducting review and suggest participatory management of the Island estuarine ecosystem and to conduct baseline assessment of ecological status of the marine protected area.

Training and demonstration on crab and mussel farming

Projects supported by NABARD on the demonstration of mussel and crab farming actively engage and encourage the local fishing communities to undertake mariculture, as an adaptive measure to overcome the impacts of climate change and increasing anthropogenic activities, as well as providing options for livelihood diversification and stimulating healthy socio economic development in the area. We have been regularly conducting demonstration programme of mussel culturing in different coastal ecosystems such as estuaries, creeks and ponds to the coastal communities through CSR support.

Sustainability Partner to Amravati Capital region Development Authority

Urban Farming in Navi Mumbai Eco-City

It is developed on the lines of integrated urban planning and management programmes addressing social and ecological health of the city. Navi Mumbai, a planned twin city of Mumbai, is ready to take up another stride towards sustainability through a joint venture of TERI and NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation) under the project “ECO–CITY”.
