Indus Towers has supported TERI for its LaBL (Lighting a Billion Lives) program. With the help of such assistance, in more than 500 villages in the state of Uttar Pradesh, it has been possible to address the issues of basic lighting and other energy needs through installation of centralized solar charging station (SCS /SMG) and solar home lighting systems.
TERI with the support from NRL aims to achieve the following specific objectives: (1) bring innovative clean lighting solutions to rural communities of Golaghat district, Assam through the introduction of high resolution solar LED street lights; (2) select the suitable location for the project intervention through scoping, feasibility and need of local community; (3) provide necessary after sales support to the customers with on-site warranty and maintenance; (4) enhance the visibility of NRL in the region by providing necessary branding platforms and pr
Lack of reliable sources of energy in remote hilly areas has been a major challenge. Though the government has accelerated its efforts towards provisioning of grid in these areas there are issues related to reliable supply of power. TERI with the support from Signify Innovation India Ltd is working on a project to provide power from solar energy for primary, middle, and residential schools in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Meghalaya.
The main objectives of this project are to: Integrate India's development objectives with concerns on climate change and, energy and resource security; Address knowledge gaps and provide solutions; Enhance stakeholder engagement for effective policy planning & implementation; Enhance outreach and awareness in the domains of climate change and sustainable development.
The radio station is run by youth from the local community, under TERI's supervision.
Kumaon Vani radio station was set up by TERI in March 2010 in Nainital district of Uttarakhand with the aim of bringing together communities across several villages in the Kumaon region.
Conducting a background study on 'Reforming Global Architecture of Marine Resource Security: An Indian Perspective'
Project STARs - a pioneering ESD project in the state of Goa explored the principles of sustainable development through the adoption of the 3C sustainable school concept. It was a three year project (2013-2016) jointly implemented by the Dempo Group of Companies, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) across 10 schools in Goa. Project 'STARs' sought to inspire and encourage schools to practice the principles of sustainability by focusing on its environmental and socio-cultural performance.
Specific objectives of the project were to:
A project supported by GIZ assesses the ecological baseline of the coastal marine protected area – the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Chorao, Goa. The broad objectives of this project is conducting review and suggest participatory management of the Island estuarine ecosystem and to conduct baseline assessment of ecological status of the marine protected area.
Projects supported by NABARD on the demonstration of mussel and crab farming actively engage and encourage the local fishing communities to undertake mariculture, as an adaptive measure to overcome the impacts of climate change and increasing anthropogenic activities, as well as providing options for livelihood diversification and stimulating healthy socio economic development in the area. We have been regularly conducting demonstration programme of mussel culturing in different coastal ecosystems such as estuaries, creeks and ponds to the coastal communities through CSR support.
