The Project Development Objective (PDO) was to 'improve the productive potential of the natural resources and increase incomes of rural inhabitants in selected watersheds through socially inclusive, institutionally and environmentally sustainable objectives'.
The project provides technical contribution and inputs taking into consideration India's perspective to the Ministry of Environment and Forests on various issues under the second theme of Rio+20 which is the "Institutional framework for sustainable development".
This work contributes towards the development of a modular nitrate removal system using the environment friendly biological route. Apart from nitrate contaminated water streams, it can also be studied for disposal of RO reject streams containing high nitrate content.
TERI in partnership with Department of Environment, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) and Tetra Pak India Pvt Ltd organizeda week long activities in several schools of Delhi. Several competitions such as quiz, debate, photography and dance competitions were organized for students in Delhi and NCR to sensitize them on the theme ¿Forests for our future¿.
The assignment is to provide short term expertise/consultancy to the Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), Govt of Karnataka for the preparation of Karnataka Action Plan on Climate Change. TERI is responsible for the review of all relevant documents, structurally integrate the sectoral assessment and preparation of the action plan.
This workshop would include a brief discussion on the developments so far on the improved fuel quality and vehicular technologies, and need for a future road map for continual improvement.
In order to make the two stage biomass gasifier more effective, further improvements are needed in the technology as well in related aspects like the establishment of reliable biomass fuel supply chain for gasifier systems. The thermal gasifier too needs further modifications in order to accelerate its uptake among MSMEs. In particular, the following issues need to be addressed:
The proposed building has an area of 6311 m2. It is coming up in Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is a 6 storied hostel building consisting of 164 double seated rooms. The ground floor consists of parking and Warden / Caretaker and office rooms. It has two lifts, each with a capacity to carry 8 people.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), GoI has sanctioned funds to TERI for carrying out long-term performance evaluation and development of new designs of Solar Lighting Systems in TERI's Solar Lighting Laboratory located in the TERI University campus.
The aim of UPEA-III (Urban Peri-urban Energy Access) is to build upon and take forward the work done in UPEA-I and II. This phase will focus on recommending policy and other measures to operationalize solutions to improve energy access for the urban poor in the areas where UPEA-II research was carried out. The specific taks to be performed are as follows:
