Integrated domestic energy systems in rural communities in India through carbon finance

April 1, 2019

The project involves providing access to clean and affordable cooking energy services in various states of India through dissemination of improved, energy-efficient forced draft technology based biomass cookstoves. Under this project the traditional /non-efficient biomass cookstoves will be replaced using carbon finance generated through the use of cookstove.

Assist FISE Bangalore to implement the learning programme on 'Creating a Shared Framework and Roadmap to Adoption for Clean Cooking in India'

April 1, 2019

FISE in collaboration with the Tata Trusts Clean Cooking Alliance, Sambodhi Research, Nexleaf Analytics and 4 other implementation partners is leading this initiative. This initiative has been designed around the core understanding that unless there is sustained use and adoption of clean cooking solutions and subsequent reduction in the usage of traditional stoves in the household cooking stack, impacts on health and quality of life cannot be achieved.

Studies on thermal degradation of crop residues for kinetics, bio-polymeric transitions and value added products

April 1, 2019

The objective of the project is to study the thermal degradation kinetics of selected biomaterials during biomass gasification. It also aims to analyze, model, and validate at laboratory scale the time dependent thermal degradation processes in terms of temperature, biomaterial parameters, and the process output. Under this project, the process conditions for generation and extraction of different gaseous & residual substances from the crop residues will be properly defined and established.

An assessment of socio-economic impacts due to melt water variability in Himalayan States

March 28, 2019
| Water
| Climate Change

Studies linking the impacts of climate change on glaciers and meltwater availability, and associated impacts on livelihood of local communities are missing. This makes it difficult to understand the real impacts of glacier melting on local livelihood except oft quoted statements about the dependence of downstream communities.

Smart/bioactivated nano-probes for extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds from marine resources: macro and micro algae

March 22, 2019

The main objectives of this project are to: (1) Design of nano-probes loaded with probe derived against proposed bio-active molecules which are either metabolites/proteins/peptides (polyamines/ Brassinosteroids/Jasmonides/ signal peptides/antioxidants); (2) Establish a robust reproducible extraction methodology for metabolites/ proteins/ peptides sourced from algae-micro algae; (3) Further screening of algae metabolite or protein/peptide for relevant bioactive molecules with a cell growth inhibitory/ antioxidant properties; (4) Isolation and Characterizat

DBT - TDNBC - DEAKIN – Research Network Across continents for learning and innovation (DTD-RNA)

March 18, 2019
| Sustainable Agriculture

TERI, India and Deakin University, Australia are two destinations in the world that are actively engaged in nanotechnology based research on agriculture, material science, food storage and safety. Considering the importance and relevance of joint research platform, TERI-Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre (TDNBC), Gurugram, India and Institute of Frontier Materials (IFM), Deakin University, Australia, in association with Department of Biotechnology, Government of India has created "DBT -TDNBC - DEAKIN – Research Network Across continents for learning and innovation (DTD-RNA)".

Development of Epicuticular fatty acids catabolizing fungi enriched biopesticide formulation: validation of Beta oxidation enhanced pathogenicity in Citrus aphids

March 11, 2019
| Microbes

The research project would identify fatty acid dissolving fungal strain and their possible usages in biopesticide formulation with higher biocontrol potential, lesser variation yet safer for predators and pollinators.

TERI Coastal Education Hub

February 25, 2019
| Land

Coastal wetland carries a wide variety of marine biodiversity (flora and fauna) which needs to be conserved.

Preparation of People Biodiversity Register for Zilla Panchayats and Taluk Panchayats levels

February 12, 2019
| Forest & Biodiversity

The objectives are to: 1. Sensitise the local people about the study, survey and possible management; 2. Document information on bio resources and their known uses; 3. Document the status of on-going involvement of local communities/ individuals in sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity resources; 4. Document local traditional knowledge that are shared and publically disclosed in support of uses of biodiversity resource;

Skill development to sustain and enhance technical knowledge in solar energy and rural technologies systems

January 29, 2019
| Environment

The objectives of this project are to: (1) build capacity in the mountain region under the green energy skill development through solar energy technology applications; (2) align with the national agenda of development and implementation of green skills and the participants will also be engaged in practical training programme; (3) create linkage between green industries and trained youths as well as with the service provider; (4) build capacity among rural unemployed youths and create possibility in engaging in NMHS Schemes in future.
