Theme Champion for Transport and Climate Change for the Global Transport Knowledge Partnership (gTKP) website

TERI has been awarded a contract by the DfID in the UK to develop the Transport and Climate Change theme for the Global Transport Knowledge Partnership (gTKP) website. gTKP is a knowledge sharing facility for transport practioners working in Africa and Asia. The aim is to identify knowledge gaps and, using a combination of communication media: online discussion forums, events and workshops, seek to address them. The long term goal will be to build better capacity and partnerships for transport professionals to incorporate climate change issues into their work.

Energy Information Support Sevices for Industries

This project proposes to build a website for energy efficient technologies information for sugar, fertiliser and paper and pulp sector, a database of Indian energy Literature, and provide e- reference service to remote users

Study on Competition Issues in Regulated Industries: The Case of India?s Transport Sector

The studys main objective is to assess the level of competitive activity in Indias port and railways sectors, identify barriers to entry and review alternative regulatory frameworks for these transport sub-sectors in light of the relevant international experience.

Ethics of climate change: economic, political and legal aspects

The main objectives of this project are as follows.
(1) To act as a catalyst in bringing to the forefront the ethical, moral, economic and political underpinnings of the international problem of climate change. (2) To gauge the extent to which decision-making within the climate change framework is guided by the framing of the problem itself in terms of its interdisciplinary dimensions.

1st YUVA Meet 2009-Youth Unite for Voluntary Action on Climate Change

YUVA Meet aims to provide the youth with an overview of the emerging challenges of climate change and how they can play a role in spreading the knowledge they gain to the world around them. It will provide youth from India with a platform to collectively air their views, exchange ideas, and form a common network thereby reaching out to many more like minded people.

Characterization and evalulation of CMCC germplasm for their specific applications

This project would essentially characterize the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal germplasm collected over a period of 10 years in the Centre for Mycorrhizal Culture Collection (CMCC) at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

Transfer of Bollcure: a new botanical bio-pesticide for cotton bollworm technology, developed at TERI and transferred to Sri Biotech Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad

TERI with the support of the Department of Biotechnology has developed a bio-pesticide from the extracts of eucalyptus leaves. The technology has been tested in the field and is the outcome of 10 years of hard work of the dedicated team working at TERI. The first technology transfer took place on 2 November 2007 in the presence of Dr M K Bhan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology. The technology docket transfer took place on 13 November 2007 in the presence of Hon'ble Minister of Science and Technology, Shri Kapil Sibal.

Framework for basic services in Indian cities

TERI together with partners SUI (Sustainable Urbanism International) and Arghyam with support from Dr Nandan Nilekani and Mrs Rohini Nilekani, initiated this study in March 2008, to address sustainability issues in Indian cities. The concept of sustainable cities represents an overarching challenge and includes addressing social, environmental and economic sustainability concerns along with the interlinkages between them.

Engagement of TERI as Technical Adviser for evaluation potential for development of Solar Power projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan

The main objective of this project is to identify the best areas for setting-up solar projects of a minimum 5MW in Gujarat and Rajasthan using requisite solar and other data, and thereafter recommend and prepare the detailed proejct report the selected location.

Molecular characterization of tea germplasm

The objective is to throw light on the existing genetic diversity in tea and help in taking proper action towards its conservation and utilization. This would be achieved through analysing the genetic diversity of existing tea germplasm using the AFLP-based markers. The project involves characterizing about 2000 accessions conserved at the Tea Experimental Station, Tocklai, Jorhat, Assam, and also a few other accessions from other tea research institutes.
