Depleting green cover and a number of high rises have transformed cities into Urban Heat Islands. The report looks into mitigations strategies, as Bengaluru city in focus.
High-density development has covered urban areas with surfaces that lower their capacity to emit heat instantly. Thus, they tend to observe higher temperatures, in turn acting as "heat islands", compared to their rural counterpart.
The report covers sources of air pollution in parts of northern India during winters and their impact on various aspects, thereby offering solutions that may be replicated in other regions.
Programs/Projects for integrating environment friendly concepts for making Navi Mumbai the first modern eco-city of India.
The main objective of the study is to assess water footprint of India's long term energy scenario. The focus will be on energy demand sectors including agriculture, industries and supply sectors including fossil-based power generation, nuclear power stations. The study will highlight the regional variability in water demand and demand requirement. Based on the assessment strategic recommendations will be provided for efficient utilization of water.
The proposed building has an area of 6311 m2. It is coming up in Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
It is a 6 storied hostel building consisting of 164 double seated rooms. The ground floor consists of parking and Warden / Caretaker and office rooms. It has two lifts, each with a capacity to carry 8 people.
The green features of the project are as follows:
a) Energy Conservation
b) Use of PPC with additional fly ash
c) No smoking zone during construction
d) Daylight Utilisation
e) Optimization of water usage
In order to make the two stage biomass gasifier more effective, further improvements are needed in the technology as well in related aspects like the establishment of reliable biomass fuel supply chain for gasifier systems. The thermal gasifier too needs further modifications in order to accelerate its uptake among MSMEs. In particular, the following issues need to be addressed:
(1) The reliability of the power gasifiers needs to be improved in terms of maintenance and downtime;
The purpose of this study is to make recommendations to institutionalize a Payment of Ecosystem Service (PES) model. Visitors (direct users) of Nagarhole National Forest, who derive satisfaction from non-consumptive use value of scenic beauty and non-use value of biodiversity (CAFNET 2012), compensate coffee-growers and forest dwellers (Under the recognition of Forest Right Act 2006) for biodiversity conservation. Visitors would pay to maintain coffee plantation under high density tree cover by conserving native tree species.
Taking the cue from the Government of India's desire for accelerating wind power development in India, the objective of this assignment is to develop, publish and distribute Co-branded White Papers defining the roadmap for achieving 60 GW installed capacity by 2022.
This study aims to evaluate the extent of individual women who are empowered economically through Sthree Shakthi self help groups. Apart from this, current status of individual beneficiaries, impact on economic status of individuals, constraints in implementation will be analysed and recommendations made to improve the scheme.
