01 Jul 2020

There is a pressing need to curb marine pollution in the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India sharing access to the pristine ecosystems of the Lakshadweep Sea. The overall objective of the ProMiSe project is to contribute to the prevention and leakage of wastes from land-based sources into the Lakshadweep Sea in line with sustainable consumption and production approach, thus enhancing the attractiveness of tourism industries, avoiding further deterioration of marine ecosystems and improving living conditions in the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India. More specifically, the action seeks to promote regionally integrated source-to-sea solutions to reduce marine littering in tourism clusters along the Lakshadweep shorelines of the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India.
