The Green School Project - Phase IV

05 Jun 2021

The Green School, a Tata Steel and TERI initiative was launched in April 2017 to create awareness about environment in school networks through curriculum linkages, action projects and capacity building activities by learning the basics on four broad environmental themes viz, energy, water, forests and biodiversity, and waste.

Continuing its bequest, The Green School executed the third phase of the project in the areas of Jharkhand and Odisha in order to reach out to more people and to educate them about environmental sustainability. The curriculum of the project for Phase III included themes of waste and forest and biodiversity, and steps were taken by the project to create awareness among the young minds on the related topics. The project engaged the school fraternity in taking actions (at individual level due to sudden closure of schools because of COVID pandemic) to achieve viable impacts in and around the school campus. These initiatives were undertaken with a focus on promoting environmental stewardship through activities to improve their critical, interdisciplinary, and holistic thinking.

Phase IV of The Green School will tap the energy of students across project locations for climate action at school level. In this process they will be provided with sufficient information and handholding that is required for bringing about a change.
