Why it is the time for India to choose the right energy pathways

27 Aug 2021

India has had major breakthroughs over the last decade in the energy sector. It has taken electricity to all households. We have an integrated national electricity grid. There is spare power generating capacity for the first time, an essential prerequisite for reliable round the clock supply to fully meet seasonal peaks in demand. Cooking gas stoves and cylinders are being taken to all households and the task is expected to be completed in the next few years. We have also been remarkably successful in scaling up the use of renewable solar and wind energy. India has the fifth largest capacities of these in the world. We are setting up a national gas grid.
