In vitro regeneration of economically important bamboo species: Dendrocalamus giganteus and Bambusa tulda

The overall objective of the project is to develop micropropagation protocols for Dendrocalamus giganteus and Bambusa tulda. However, the specific objectives of the study are as follows : 1. Collection of experimental material (seeds/nodal segments) of Dendrocalamus giganteus and B. tulda and its establishment at TERIs research station at Gurgaon 2. Develop procedures of in vitro culture initiation 3. Standardize the process of shoot multiplication by axillary branching method followed by rooting of shoots 4.Setting up of Biomethanation plant at CIDCO Bhavan for management of canteen waste

The objective of this project was to explore urban sustainability with respect to the provision of basic services in Indian cities. The project was aimed to serve as a step towards the larger goal of developing a framework for guiding Indian cities towards sustainability. To organise a two-day India policy workshop on the status of MAC replacement technologies. The salient features of the project:1. The project is the first unique demonstration effort in the entire MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region).
2. Setting up of an ERC focusing on fresh water ecosystems with an objective to generate scientific information through research, compilation of data in the form of a database and books, dissemination of information through awareness programs for educational institutions & visitors to the centre. ERC would organize special nature trails for students.
