In this project, the unburned carbon in bagasse fly ash will be separated to obtain maximum carbon yield possible using simple techniques such as sieving, gravity separation, froth floatation etc. The possible products from this carbon will be examined. Options such as precursor for activated carbon, briquettes for cooking, ironing etc., low cost adsorbent for colour and odour removal, additive in paint, rubber, will be examined.

The programe is under the Rajiv Gandhi Garamin Vidhyuti karan Yojana which focuses on improving revenue sustainability and customer satisfaction. The Programme aims to impart training to the trainer/ professional of the utilities so as to develop a strong team of 40-50 professional equipped with necessary knowledge and skills and capable of imparting knowledge to more and more personnel of the utilities and expected future franchisee, so as to meet capacity requirement necessary for franchisee development.

ADB collaborates with TERI on LaBL to develop new methodologies and approaches and support demonstration projects that are scalable and replicable and/or modalities that are designed to lead to large scale programs and will have the most significant long term impacts on increasing households access to energy. The project aims to provide access to lighting facilities to about 1500 households translating to reaching 30-40 villages. The area of operations will focus on 2-3 states and will try to demonstrate new delivery mechanisms in terms of co-funding support from the LaBL Associate.
