The journey of light in rural villages of Rajasthan began with just two villages (Banganga and Jodhula) in June, 2008. Today, it has spread across two districts viz. Jaipur and Alwar taking the number of villages to 34. Realizing the immense success and great acceptability among rural communities, the Partner Organization, a well recognized name, Humana People to People India (HPPI) decided to take its operations to another state.

The overall objective of the current project will be to build on the existing project ¿ Climate EduXchange Phase I by further focusing on enhancing key climate change issues amongst students and teachers of all disciplines, reinforcing and promote their engagement on these issues with each other through the website that has been created ¿ www.climateeduxchange.org . This will be achieved through intensive use of the computer, the internet, and the project website. - Teacher training and capacity building has become essential as they play the role of catalyst in the teaching learning process.

With the overall objective of addressing issues related to energy and climate change, the partnership aims at making energy available to local populations while preserving the natural resources. The project targets to bring light to five villages in Maharashtra, using solar technology through TERI's Lighting a Billion Lives'a campaign. The project will establish solar charging stations in five villages in Maharashtra with 50 solar lanterns each.

TERI is facilitating Reliance Power (Sasan Power Limited) in designing and implementing a wholistic rehabilitation package for project affected families who are displaced as a result of the establishment of an Ultra Megawatt Power Plant in Sasan, MP. The rehabilitation plan addresses local subsistence concerns while developing a long term strategy to develop social and income security.

TERI is carrying out a comprehensive study of the Indian renewable energy market in two major technologies, viz. solar PV and onshore wind energy. The study will focus on 4 specific states of India that have the potential to develop into major renewable energy development hubs for clean energy investors. This study has been commissioned by Clean Energy Partners (BNP Paribas).

Under this project a Pyrolysis Test Unit(100kg/dayPTU) is developed. a patent has been filed on the design and operation of the Pyrolysis based Bioreactor.This Pilot Reactor is developed for production of liquid biofuel, a renewable substitute to fuel oil from selected biomass through pyrolysis route. The toxic oil seed wastes (e.g. oil seed cakes and shells) from bio-diesel plants like, Jatropha and Pongamia have been evaluated as potential source of Bio oil and high value Char.

In this study, synthetic plastics-bioplastics blends would be prepared. A suitable compatibilizer would be synthesized so as to improve the dispersion of the filler in the matrix phase. Starch and chitosan based polymers with nanoclay reinforcements will be attempted. The mechanical, thermal and morphological studies will be carried out as per the ASTM standards.
