In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as millions of migrants head home, without any promise of livelihood, India's forestry and biodiversity resources can offer a ray of hope. There are solutions and mechanisms in place, but they need to be implemented with conviction. Dr. JV Sharma, Director, Land Resources Division, TERI, explains.
The pandemic and the ensuing lockdown has impacted the genders differently, causing a shift in the demand and supply of employment opportunities, particularly for women employed in casual and informal jobs, both in the urban and rural areas.
जब इस महामारी का दौर धीमा होगा या थम जाएगा तब हमारे जीने के तरीके बदल जाएंगे। लॉकडाउन में यात्री परिवहन थम गया था। अब धीरे धीरे सार्वजनिक परिवहन व्यवस्था को शुरू किया जा रहा है। लेकिन सार्वजनिक परिवहनों में शारीरिक दूरी बनाना मुश्किल है। हमें यातायात के विभिन्न माध्यमों पर विचार करना होगा और उसमें बदलाव करने होंगे।
The pandemic has provided us — governments, corporates, and individuals — the opportunity to slow down and reflect upon where we lost our way. I hope that each of us seizes this moment to make changes in how we live and consume, so we are true to our traditional beliefs — that all life on earth is one single family.

Mycorrhizae is a symbiotic relationship between plant roots and fungi. Mycorrhizae technology developed by TERI has shown 50% reduction in usage of chemical fertilisers in crops such as wheat and maize.
The Coronavirus pandemic has caused a radical slowing of economic activity across India, as industries scale-back production, employees work from home, and communities enter lockdown. As a result, we have seen significant impacts on the Indian energy sector, both short-term implications as well as some of the possible longer-term ones that are yet to materialize.
During COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, the clear skies and clean air have turned out to be the blessings in disguise for the millions affected due to air pollution in India.

The Covid 19 pandemic conditions pose challenges for air-conditioned buildings and their occupants. One solution is to look at passive architecture office buildings that maintain indoor temperature through the right mix of fresh air and recirculation, daylighting and artificial lighting etc.
