Utilization of unburned carbon in bagasse ash

15 Jul 2007 12 Jun 2010
In this project, the unburned carbon in bagasse fly ash will be separated to obtain maximum carbon yield possible using simple techniques such as sieving, gravity separation, froth floatation etc. The possible products from this carbon will be examined. Options such as precursor for activated carbon, briquettes for cooking, ironing etc., low cost adsorbent for colour and odour removal, additive in paint, rubber, will be examined. It is expected that eventually the ash processing facilities can be set up in the sugar mills and the women in the vicinity of these sugar mills can own or be employed in these units.
