Going green with sovereign bonds

The green bonds will mobilise resources for green infrastructure which will be deployed in public sector projects for reducing carbon intensity of the economy. Though the quantum of bonds and the markets and currencies in which they will be issued have not been announced, an amount of Rs 24,000 crore has been reported. India is not new to green bonds, which have been issued by the corporate sector and banks.
