TERI and International Institute of Sustainable development (IISD) jointly organized a dissemination workshop on "Reforming LPG and Kerosene Subsidies: Short-term priorities and long-term ambitions" on September 18, 2014. The workshop aimed at deliberating on the recent subsidy policies for domestic LPG and PDS kerosene and identifying priorities going forward. It drew from published reports on Kerosene and LPG subsidy [that can be found at links: Report 1 | Report 2] to discuss the nature of India's energy subsidies schemes, their impacts on the lives of Indian citizens and further on the methods to mitigate reform impacts and setting the priority path in the matter.

The workshop commenced with review and evaluation of recent policy on subsidies wherein presentations were made on the studies carried out by TERI and IISD on the Direct Benefits Transfer Scheme. Following this, presentations by CEEW and IRADe were also made leading to deeper understanding of the impacts of reform. The subsequent sessions explored the implementation challenges of reforms which lead to setting of immediate policy priorities for the new government to consider.
