Workshop on 'Biomass Gasifier Technology and its potential for use by MSMEs in Punjab'

As part of the delivery and dissemination component of the TERI-SDC Biomass Partnership (TSBP) programme, a technology dissemination workshop titled 'Biomass Gasifier Technology and its Potential for Use by MSMEs in Punjab' was organized on November 19, 2014 in Ludhiana.

The objective of the workshop was to increase awareness about the technology among the stakeholders in Punjab. The event provided a platform to various industries, government and research institutions, nodal agencies, and end-users to interact, discuss, and devise strategies for the enhanced use of the technology in the state. Over a 100 attendees participated in the event including representatives from Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), Ludhiana Foundry Cluster, Ludhiana Textile Association, Ludhiana Forging Cluster, District Industries Center (DIC), Small Scale Industries Association (SSIA), Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Live demonstration of the biomass gasifier was also conducted at the event.

The event was successful in providing a forum for collaboration of multiple stakeholders for the promotion and implementation of thermal biomass gasifiers in MSMEs in Punjab.
