RE-ENVIS 2014: Seminar on 'Overview of Renewable Energy Landscape in India'

TERI ENVIS Centre on Renewable Energy and Environment organized the seminar on "Overview of Renewable Energy Landscape in India" in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India, on 12 September 2014. The objective of the seminar was to generate awareness among the research, scientific and student communities about the current status of renewable energy in India. The seminar was attended by 48 participants from academic and research institutes.

In his welcome remarks, Mr Prabir Sengupta, Distinguished Fellow and Director, Knowledge Management Division, TERI, stressed on the significance of renewable energy in meeting the challenges of economic growth while dealing with global threat of climate change.

The seminar included presentations on the role of the ENVIS Network and of TERI ENVIS Centre in promoting and disseminating information on renewable energy and environmental issues. The sessions on renewable energy status in the country and RE technology applications covered developments and initiatives by the government, TERI, and other research institutes to strengthen and promote the application of renewable energy among stakeholders.
