Delhi Zoo offers ecosystem services worth INR 422.76 crore annually


 

Apart from their primary function in education and research, many zoos, serve as natural habitats for free-ranging animals. Our first-of-its-kind study highlights that the total economic value of the five ecosystem services—such as biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration—in Delhi Zoo is estimated to be INR 422.76 crore. The study was released by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar during Wildlife Week 2020.
