Disclosure: Farmers are being cheated in the name of carbon credit

In September 2024, Dr Jitendra Vir Sharma, Senior Director,  Land Resources informed that according to the MoU signed between the Forest Department, VNV and TERI, the farmer will be paid $6 per credit. He says that since the projects made good money this time, VNV has decided to pay farmers $8 per credit. Dr Sharma estimates that one credit could be worth $11-12 and assured that VNV will be transparent about the benefit-sharing process.
