The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) along with the Shell Group of Companies India will launch the ‘India transforming to a net-zero emissions energy system: A Call to Action to 2030’ report at the T20 Summit in Mysuru.

In 2021, TERI and Shell partnered to create a scenarios sketch for India, highlighting the varied options available for the country to transition to a net-zero energy system. The 2023 report launch expands on the previous research, and identifies key focus areas that can help India meet its 2030 nationally determined contribution (NDC) targets, and achieve its long-term target of net zero.

Steps initiated in this decisive decade will enable the country to transition to a low-carbon energy system. Given this context, the report explores decarbonisation actions across sectors such as power, industry, transportation, agriculture and buildings.

Examining a set of decarbonisation pathways, the report identifies a series of requisite actions to decarbonize the Indian economy. The report also outlines key policies and investment actions required to enable India’s energy transition whilst simultaneously balancing the imperative of just transition, and securing the country’s energy needs.

The report was launched by Dr. Vibha Dhawan (Director General, TERI) and Mr. Nitin Prasad (Chairman, Shell Group of Companies India) together with Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi, Special Secretary (G20 - Operations), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Ms. Eenam Gambhir, Joint Secretary (G20), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Mr. Samir Saran is the President of the Observer Research Foundation on 1st August 2023 from 15:05 – 15:15 hrs (IST) at the T20.
