India’s commitment to a clean energy transition is widely acknowledged, with the National Green Hydrogen Mission standing as a cornerstone of this endeavour. Recognizing hydrogen’s transformative potential, many states are championing hydrogen initiatives to support decarbonization across critical sectors. In alignment with this national goal, TERI has prepared a policy brief titled “Green Hydrogen - Path to Decarbonization” focusing on how hydrogen can strategically contribute to India’s clean energy transition in the hard-to-abate sectors of industry and transportation. The brief includes specific recommendations for achieving impactful results in these hard-to-abate areas with optimized costs. This release, planned in the lead-up to COP29, aims to amplify the discourse on hydrogen's role in accelerating India’s energy transition.
