View: With changed climate goals likely in Rome, India has to fight to own its national emission pathway

The dynamics in Glasgow for 1.5°C are going to be different for two reasons. One, the sum total of all NDCs submitted by countries till date is woefully inadequate, even for the earlier 2°C goal. Britain, as COP26 president, will have be careful not to get distracted by the 'net zero goal by 2050' announcements - unless the countries supposed to have peaked decades ago advance this goal proportionately to 2030 as per their fair share.
