Ms. Madhuparna Majumder serves as the Research Associate & Area Convenor for the Centre for Geospatial Technology and Application (CGTA) under the Land Resources Division at The Energy and Resources Institute. She specializes in the application of Remote Sensing and GIS for environmental monitoring, climate change assessment, disaster risk and sustainable land management.
With over 3 years of professional experience, she actively works on RS-GIS activities on the AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use) sector projects, supporting the design and implementation of carbon finance initiatives. Her role involves developing Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) frameworks, geospatial baseline assessments, and monitoring protocols aligned with carbon standards. She also applies geospatial techniques for hazard mapping, vulnerability assessment, and risk modelling, particularly in the context of forest fires, drought, and land degradation.
Madhuparna holds a postgraduate degree (M.Tech) in Remote Sensing from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun, and a bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology.
