The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), in collaboration with InfluenceMap, hosted a webinar titled “How the Corporate Sector Can Drive Ambitious Climate Action in India.” As India advances toward fulfilling its 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement and prepares to submit more ambitious targets for 2035, this webinar underscored the critical role of science-based policies and multi-level collaboration.

The webinar aimed to equip businesses with resources to integrate their advocacy with climate policies, to empower investors to promote science-aligned commitments within their portfolios, and to guide banks in steering financial flows toward sustainable futures. Key speakers included Mr Vivek Parekh, Programme Manager at InfluenceMap; Ms Priyanka Dhingra, Chief Manager – ESG Research at SBI Mutual Fund; Mr Venkat Bhargav Sreedhara, Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank Group; and Mr Arupendra Nath Mullick, Associate Director at TERI. They provided diverse perspectives on the evolving climate policy environment.

Building on the Industry Charter for Near Zero Emissions by 2050, TERI emphasized the importance of a transparent partnership between the government and private sectors to sustain India’s climate progress and position the country as a global leader in clean technology and competitiveness. The event spotlighted corporate engagement trends, exploring how Indian companies and investors can strategically align their climate advocacy with scientific pathways to effectively support India’s net-zero ambitions.
