TERI at the 7th Meeting of the ISA Regional Committee for Asia and Pacific Region
Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, participated in the 7th Meeting of the International Solar Alliance Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific Region, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, between July 16-17, 2025.
Under the theme ‘Advancing Solar Cooperation Across a Region of Diversity and Opportunity’, the Regional meeting explored:
i. Strategic partnerships to unlock solar potential
ii. Emerging technologies shaping the future of clean energy
iii. Catalytic investments to drive deployment at scale
Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General TERI was part of a session themed, Regional Energy Cooperation & Cross Border Electricity Trade - Opportunities and Challenges.’ The session was moderated by Mr Ashish Khanna, Director General, International Solar Alliance. Dr Dhawan stated in her address, “We have to look at the assessment of the existing regional power systems for both generation and transmission, and plan generation and transmission projects with line rooting, as it’s extremely important.”
On the second day of the 7th meeting of the ISA Regional Committee for Asia and Pacific Region, Dr Dhawan, attended a thematic session on ‘Partnering for Progress: Integrated Institutional Strengthening in Action.’ Dr Dhawan highlighted the need for community-based action to enable a culture of lifelong learning. “We love to have a top-down approach, what we—sitting in Delhi—feel is needed by the community, when it should be the other way around. We need to understand what they need,” she said.
