The U.S. Department of State, UN-Habitat India and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) are organizing TechCamp Mumbai: Designing our Urban Future from July 22 - 24, 2019, in The Hilton hotel, Mumbai, India. An initiative of the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, and the U.S. Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan, the TechCamp will bring together 25 Indians and 25 Afghans active in urban planning and development to network and learn innovative tech tools to solve urban development challenges common to both countries.
The TechCamp will connect Indian and Afghan civil society and government officials with civil planning and technology experts and inform about low-cost easy-to-implement tech tools. They will collaborate on digital skills and strategies to develop sustainable solutions to the urbanization challenges faced by both countries. The TechCamp is designed to help the participants advance the incredible work that they are already doing in the fields of sustainable urban planning, including the areas of sanitation, environment, transportation, education and disaster response. It is designed to prepare the participants to advance their work in sustainable urban development and build new networks for continued success and collaboration.
TechCamp Mumbai will be a hands-on and highly interactive three-day event where participants will interact with world-class trainers through a series of training and brainstorming sessions. These participant-led workshops will allow them to share best practices and challenges with Indian and Afghan peers working in sustainable urban development as well as with experts from around the world. In this highly collaborative and interactive environment, the TechCamp aims to enable the participants to further refine the urban challenges to be addressed and co-create solutions using innovative technology.
