Mr Sanjay Mitra is engaged with the Electricity & Renewables Division of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) as its Distinguished Fellow.
Prior to his retirement in 2019, he was a member of the IAS and served in the state (ending as Chief Secretary, West Bengal) and as Secretary in the central ministries of road transport and defence. Mr Mitra is interested in questions of public policy formulation and appraisal, particularly science and technology policy, electricity and infrastructure reforms, defence indigenisation and centre-state relations.
He is currently Professor of Practice, School of Public Policy, IIT Delhi. In a multicultural environment, he developed skill sets to carry forward developmental activities in the field of Public policy design, infrastructure development including electricity sector issues, transport & road safety, decentralization and process reforms, indigenization, technology transfer, defence research and development, national security.
He is also Member, Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety; Visiting Faculty, IIM Kolkata; Member, Board of Governors, The Neotia University, Kolkata; and Board Member, L&T Independent Company, Infrastructure and Transport.
