Dr Ritu Mathur leads the Integrated Assessment & Modelling work at The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) and is also associated with TERI School of Advanced Studies as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Energy and Environment. She is an economist by training, with a PhD in Energy Science from Kyoto University, Japan.
Dr Ritu Mathur has been working in the fields of sustainable development, energy security, mitigation & climate change for more than 2 decades. She has been associated with the IPCC process as Lead Author and reviewer across various reports and is part of the global network of Integrated Assessment Modellers contributing to scenario building and mitigation related modelling using rigorous and robust global and national level models & frameworks to deliver outputs that contribute to scientific assessments and literature.
At the country level, some of her main contributions have been towards providing policy inputs for the formulation of India’s NDCs, the National Action Plan on Climate Change, and various national energy plans. Over the last few years, her work has focused on examining energy efficiency prospects across sectors and studying possibilities of clean power generation and decarbonisation till 2050.
