AI, clean energy, net-zero push in NDMC budget

The New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) 2026–27 budget projects a surplus of ₹143.05 crore, prioritising AI training for students, hydrogen and solar energy generation, a Net-Zero Carbon roadmap in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and major civic improvements including mechanised sweeping across the NDMC area, Miyawaki afforestation, and the installation of 2,000 additional CCTV cameras.

Road dust is the second highest contributor to Delhi-NCR's PM2.5 pollution, accounting for close to one-fifth (18%) of the fine and deadly particulate matter, according to a 2018 source-apportionment study by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Automotive Research Association of India. The study identified transport as the biggest contributor (39%) to Delhi's pollution.
