In a bid to strengthen research and policy partnerships, M S University's Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Policy Research and International Studies (AIPRIS) has signed a MoU with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The agreement sets a framework for joint work in policy research, advocacy and capacity-building, with a focus on addressing emerging global and regional challenges in sustainable development.

Read moreIn September 2024, Dr Jitendra Vir Sharma, Senior Director, Land Resources informed that according to the MoU signed between the Forest Department, VNV and TERI, the farmer will be paid $6 per credit. He says that since the projects made good money this time, VNV has decided to pay farmers $8 per credit. Dr Sharma estimates that one credit could be worth $11-12 and assured that VNV will be transparent about the benefit-sharing process.

These include Devipatan, Ayodhya, Jhansi, Mirzapur, Kanpur, Varanasi and Aligarh divisions. For the implementation of the scheme to increase the income of farmers through carbon credit in these divisions, a three-tier MoU was signed on 3 September 2024 between TERI, VNV Advisory and Divisional Chief Forest Conservators of the seven divisions.
