Youth Seminar on "Entrepreneurship & Skilling: A Springboard for Sustainable Development"

TERI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, conducted an interactive youth seminar at Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Ambala from April 5 to 6, 2016. The seminar intended to promote entrepreneurship and skill development in youth to enable them to take a proactive approach towards social responsibility.

Themed "Entrepreneurship & Skilling: A Springboard for Sustainable Development", the two-day seminar witnessed the presence of more than 175 youths from academic institutions, NGOs, National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), and several other youth groups from Ambala and Kurukshetra. The participants were from undergraduate and postgraduate courses from recognised universities, including young professionals and enthusiastic individuals willing to voice their opinions and contribute towards a sustainable future. The key note address was delivered by Dr Prof Renu Vig, Director, University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Chandigarh, who motivated the students by talking about the scope of entrepreneurship.

The first day of the event featured focussed discussions on soft skills, start-up challenges, experience sharing by successful entrepreneurs like Dr Prof Amit Malik Vaidaya, Ayurvedic Doctor and Coordinator of Ayugram and Ms Medhavi Gandhi, Founder, Happy Hands Foundation. Simulation exercises, group activities, and presentations were also conducted to facilitate the exchange of views among the participants. Winners of the simulation exercise were felicitated on the second day of the seminar.
