On Saturday 6th June, TERI is organizing the India part of a global citizens' consultation on climate and energy, of which the inputs will then feed into the COP 21 process. This is part of a global project with the aim to include public opinion in global policy making about climate and energy. On 6th June, 100 participants in 100 countries will get together to discuss and vote about important issues. The results of these votes will be compiled and presented to policy makers.

COP21 will be a crucial meeting which will take place at the end of the year in Paris, where governments will meet to negotiate and hopefully achieve a new international agreement on climate, applicable to all countries, with the aim of keeping temperature increase to below 2° relative to preindustrial levels. Politicians are those will decide on the future of our Planet but it is us as citizens, who will have to live with the consequences of these decisions. It is important that the voice of global citizens is heard.

We therefore need to select 100 citizens of India, who will kindly agree to participate in this consultation. This group of people must be representative of India's socio-demography, keeping in mind age, gender, geography and socio-professional criteria. These citizens must also not have any particular interests or stakes related to climate and energy. They do not need to know anything specific about climate and energy, and we will prepare them with some basic information through an information booklet which will be sent to them prior to the meeting.

Participation is free but enrollment is necessary by June 1, 2015 at the latest. If you would like to participate, please read the Invitation and return your Enrollment form before June 1, 2015 to sonalb@teri.res.in and rubyb@teri.res.in.

We hope to see you on 6th June!
