An engaging Author Book Talk by Mr Sharif Qamar, Fellow and Associate Director, TUGD Division, on “Revolutionizing Freight Transportation in India: Dedicated Freight Corridors – Vision to Reality” was successfully held on Friday, 8 May 2026. The event took place at the Dr R K Pachauri Conference Room, TERI IHC, with virtual participation from colleagues across TERI’s regional centres.

The session focused on the transformative role of India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) initiative in modernizing the country’s logistics and transportation systems. During the talk, Mr Qamar shared insights from his research journey, highlighting a methodology that combined rigorous literature review with stakeholder consultations and firsthand field visits.

Drawing from observations of both the Eastern and Western corridors, the discussion explored the technological, economic, and sustainability dimensions of the project. The author also reflected on the vital role academic writing and field-based research play in shaping policy discourse and public understanding of national infrastructure.
