A two-day inception workshop on 'Agriculture, Greening, Training, Capacity Building and Income Generation Programme'

TERI organized a two-day inception workshop on "Agriculture, Greening, Training, Capacity Building and Income Generation Programme" from June 18 to 19, 2015 in collaboration with Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi and Institute of Forest Productivity, Ranchi at the Institute of Forest Productivity (IFP), Ranchi.

The workshop was organised in view of a project commissioned by the Forestry and Biodiversity Group and sponsored by Coal India Limited. The project aims at improving the socio-economic conditions of 1250 farmers covering 10 villages in the Neturia Block of Purulia District of West Bengal. Prior to the workshop, TERI had conducted an intensive socio-economic survey of the area in a stratified manner.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr George John, Vice Chancellor, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi. Eminent academician and scientist Dr Shamim A Ansari, IFP, Ranchi; Prof M S Malik, Prof M H Siddiqui; Prof Sushil Kumar; Prof Binay K Agarwal, BAU, Ranchi; Smt Sharadwati Chowdhury, BDO, Neturia, Purulia District; and Mr Sudip Kr Bhakat, Deputy Director Horticulture, Purulia also participated in the workshop. The entire workshop was consultative in nature and engaged diverse stakeholders to address the needs of the farming community.
