TERI, the Kisan Chamber of Commerce (KCC), and Value Network Advisory (VNV) formally signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, on July 9, to collaborate on the development and implementation of a carbon project in Haryana.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr JV Sharma, Senior Director of the Land Resources Division at TERI, who explained how carbon finance could transform agroforestry into a source of additional income for farmers through the generation of carbon credits. Shri Jitender Mor, President of the Kisan Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the project's long-term significance and its direct benefits for the farming community. The tripartite MoU was formally executed by Mr Sandeep Roy Chowdhury (Director, VNV), Dr JV Sharma (TERI), and Shri Suresh Deshwal (General Secretary, KCC). Ms Madhuparna Majumder from TERI’s Land Resources Division and Ms Hritika from VNV were also present at the signing.

This partnership marks a significant step toward promoting climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land management. By enabling farmers to participate in carbon markets, the initiative aims to support carbon sequestration through improved agroforestry practices. Ultimately, this creates a viable pathway for rural communities to access emerging carbon finance mechanisms, delivering both environmental benefits and new, sustainable revenue streams.
