Technology Suppliers Roundtable

A technology supplier round-table was organized on 8th October 2014 at Mumbai, with an aim to bring together the Indian metal finishing SMEs and technology suppliers. The event saw a participation of 49 participants, comprising of 23 technology suppliers and metal finishing association representatives from Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Chandigarh-Mohali, Chennai, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Pune.

The purpose of this round-table was to

  • Improve awareness of the SMEs towards technologies and products for enhancing resource efficiency and
  • Customize relevant technologies to their requirements
To set the background, the project team made presentations on
  • Technology challenges and expectations as perceived by the SMEs and
  • Acid and water recovery technologies being demonstrated in the project
This was followed by group discussions where both the SMEs and the suppliers identified their barriers for uptake of technology and also devised strategies to overcome them. The technology suppliers were given the opportunity to exhibit their product literature and have one-to-one discussions with the SMEs.

This event is part of the 4-year (2012-2016) ACIDLOOP project funded by the European Union under the SWITCH-Asia Programme. The aim of the SWITCH-Asia Programme is to promote sustainable consumption and production in Asia. The project is led by TERI and is being implemented in partnership with six other organizations.
