On August 29, 2025, TERI, in collaboration with CCRT and under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, hosted a multi-stakeholder consultation on Traditional Knowledge and Heritage (TKH) in New Delhi.

This was part of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process led by the MoEFCC. The consultation brought together policymakers, community leaders, experts, and organizations to explore how India’s traditional knowledge systems and cultural heritage can support climate adaptation. Discussions focused on climate risks to cultural assets, indigenous adaptation practices, and strategies to integrate traditional knowledge into green economy models.

Key goals included ensuring fair inclusion of knowledge holders, enabling local action through partnerships, and identifying ways to fund and scale traditional ecological practices. The need for research, training, and documentation was also emphasized to build community-led, culturally rooted adaptation strategies.

The outcomes will directly contribute to the TKH chapter of India’s NAP—ensuring the final strategy is inclusive, locally grounded, and reflective of India’s diverse heritage and resilience.
