TERI-Council for Business Sustainability annual summit 'Leadership Summit for Sustainable Development 2016 (LSSD 2016)' themed 'Translating India's NDC into Business Action' is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2016 in Mumbai. The 2016 Summit will aim to address three key areas of interventions, as enumerated below, to accelerate actions by Indian businesses, aligned with India's NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions):

  • Policy support
  • Financing
  • Technology support

Operationalizing India's NDCs involve an integrated thinking, a value chain approach, thought leadership, and collaboration across all stakeholders. The Summit attempts to bring together top businesses, government, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to outline a roadmap to move towards sustainable business model without compromising on the economic development of the nation. The Summit will provide an opportunity to the corporate sector to understand the implications of the Paris agreement and help them identify a roadmap to define the priorities for climate action.

Objectives of LSSD 2016:

  • To share knowledge on interpretation of India's NDCs for corporate India
  • To deliberate on avenues to operationalize India's NDCs
  • To identify policy and technology support requirement
  • Climate financing
  • To promote need to innovate by showcasing innovative climate actions by the corporates.

The Summit is designed to facilitate an open and interactive discussion on the role of corporates in dealing with climate change and provides a platform for industry captains to brainstorm ideas for conducting business while protecting the environment. LSSD brings together over 150 international and Indian CEOs, senior government officials, and luminaries from across the globe to date.
