Jaltarang 2015, 8th Consecutive World Wetlands Celebration by TERI WRC

The Western Regional Centre (WRC) of TERI on account of World Wetlands Day on February 02, 2015 successfully celebrated its event Jaltarang, 2015 for the eighth consecutive year under its flagship programme WeMap (Wetland Management Program). The event was celebrated in association with the Rotary Club of Bombay with a participation of more than 60 Rotarians representing various business fields. The main objective of the event was to sensitize the rotary members about the significance of wetlands especially in an urban context and the subsequent dependence of birds such as the flamingos on these urban wetlands.

Shri Ravi B Budhiraja (I.A.S), Chairman, Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority, Government of Maharashtra (GoM), who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, emphasized upon the subject of water conservation and water tariff through his speech. The Guests of Honour Smt. Chitkala Zutshi (I.A.S), Member (Economy), Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority, GoM, and Brigadier A S Adhikari, Member Secretary, Governing Council, Training Ship Rahaman suggested all the participants on taking up collaborative activities on wetland conservation round the year and not just only on any special occasion.
