International Conference on Agriculture and Climate Change (ICACC)

TERI organized an 'International Conference on Agriculture and Climate Change' (ICACC) as a side event to DSDS 2013. The conference covered various aspects of climatic change, their impact on livelihoods and the management strategies to cope with the situations. It also discussed regarding the preparedness to climate change and new approaches besides regulatory and policy issues related to climatic change. Dr R K Pachauri, Director General, TERI emphasized on increasing anthropogenic greenhouse gasses; impact of climate on vegetation, availability of water, and focused that how research and development can make enormous changes in maintaining the high development of crops for adaptation in changing climatic condition. Mr Ashish Bahuguna, Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation (DAC), highlighted that the climate change is erratic in nature and we need to make strategies to combat and adapt such erratic changes . He also talked about National Mission on climate change and expected outcomes of the conference.
