The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Government of India, and Value Network Ventures (VNV), is organising a high-level side event titled “Financing Nature with Integrity: Building High-Integrity Biodiversity Credit Markets for the Global South” at CBD COP17 in Yerevan, Armenia, on 22 October 2026.

The session will bring together experts from national biodiversity institutions, international organisations, financial-sector initiatives and conservation agencies to explore how biodiversity commitments can be translated into investable, measurable and independently verifiable ecological outcomes. Discussions will focus on biodiversity-credit integrity, innovative and blended finance, ecological monitoring and verification (MRV), community participation and equitable benefit-sharing. Aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, particularly Target 19, the event aims to identify practical pathways for mobilising high-integrity biodiversity finance and supporting long-term conservation and sustainable livelihoods across the Global South.
