The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), under its EIACP programme, hosted a vibrant one-day workshop “Breath of Change” on 12 August, 2025, at the Govt. Co-ed Senior Secondary School, Singhu (Narela), bringing together residents, students, Resident Welfare Associations, and environmental experts to champion cleaner air and sustainable waste practices.

The event began with an energetic awareness rally led by RWA members, students, and citizens, echoing calls for responsible environmental stewardship. Inaugurating the workshop, Project Consultant Rashi Srivastava welcomed participants and honoured RWA members for their contributions. She highlighted TERI-EIACP’s mission to engage communities as active partners in environmental protection and urged participants to carry forward the learnings into daily life.

Air pollution expert Mr Dheeraj Mehra, Associate Fellow, TERI, shared practical ways individuals can help curb pollution, focusing on tackling traffic congestion, improving waste management, and addressing industrial emissions. He emphasized the pivotal role of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in leading local action—outlining specific steps they can adopt to create cleaner, healthier neighbourhoods. Drawing from his on-ground experiences, he encouraged residents to become changemakers by initiating small, consistent efforts that collectively make a big difference.

School Principal, Manoj Kumar, reflected on the importance of balancing development with sustainability, reminding attendees that progress should never come at the cost of public health or environmental well-being. He applauded TERI’s efforts in mobilizing young minds and stressed that schools can act as catalysts for long-term behavioural change in society. His call for integrating eco-conscious habits into everyday routines resonated strongly with students and guests alike.

The day concluded with a symbolic tree plantation within the school grounds—marking a collective pledge towards a cleaner, healthier future and reinforcing the message that lasting change begins at the community level.
