Advancing Mission Efficiency: TERI at COP30 Roundtable in Belem, Brazil

Dr Amit Kumar Thakur, Associate Director, TERI, represented TERI at a high-level roundtable on 'Mission Efficiency Plan to Accelerate Doubling Energy Efficiency,' held on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil.

The roundtable was part of the 'Mission Efficiency Program' a United Nations-led initiative driven by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) - an international organisation working in partnership with the UN to accelerate energy transition in emerging and developing countries.

Discussion focused on issues related to climate finance, strategic implementation, and future plans to accelerate just transition. Leaders further deliberated on the “Plan to Accelerate Solutions (PAS)”, a collective action framework designed to double the global rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030.

Dr Amit Kumar thakur highlighted India’s commitment in achieving its NDC’s & its role in strengthening Sustainable Development Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy. He mentioned various schemes & policies adopted by India that supports the vision of energy efficiency such as UJALA, Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, and others.

He further elaborated on TERI’s Lighting a Billion Lives (LaBL) initiative and how its transition into LaBL 2.0 aims at supporting clean energy access & promoting sustainable livelihoods aligning with mission efficiency goals.
