TERI has identified the following three niche areas that need to be addressed: (1) energy access; (2) health and nutrition; (3) livelihood and skill development. In the current phase, the emphasis would be given on energy access, health and nutrition.
Designing and demonstrating an ESCO business model to promote energy-efficient electric motors in chemical industries in Gujarat

The outcome of the project will be to develop and demonstrate innovative ESCO model for promotion of HEMs (higher energy-efficiency motors) in Ankleshwar cluster. Subsequently, the project will fine-tune the demonstrated model and operationalize it for wide-spread adoption in the cluster in close coordination with all key stakeholders.
India-UK Nitrogen Fixation Centre (IUNFC)

The India-UK Nitrogen Fixation Centre is a joint-funded virtual joint centre of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, UK and the Department of Biotechnology, India. The main objective of this centre is to tackle problems of food security, environmental and economic challenges of crop production and soil improvement in India through scientific research on nitrogen fixation.
People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) and City Biodiversity Index (CBI) for the city of Panaji

People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) are the documents developed by the local Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 of India. The documentation of local biological diversity prepared in the form of PBRs should serve the purpose of identifying the habitats/ecosystems for preservation, identification of local land races, folk varieties and cultivars, stocks and breeds of domesticated animals, and microorganisms. Along with the information on species and habitats, PBRs document the traditional knowledge associated with the biodiversity.

The project has three components viz. (i) Intensification and diversification of market led production; (ii) Improving farmer access to markets by promoting alternative markets and modernizing existing market infrastructure; and (iii) Project coordination and management.
DSM Action Plan for Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) based on load research study

In order to devise DSM interventions for the utility, load research forms the starting point. Load research study assists the DSM activities through provision of supporting data of consumer load profiles, which are useful in developing and analysing DSM plans. These DSM plans enable the utility to manage the system loads by motivating consumers to vary the consumption so as to reduce system peak and increase the off peak usage of energy.
