Renewable energy-based rural electrification: The mini-grid experience from India
October 1, 2011 to
December 30, 2013
As part of the study, TERI will examine the renewable energy-based mini-grid experiences in India, especially solar PV and biomass based, implemented primarily under the Remote Village Electrification Programme and also Solar PV Demonstration Programme and the Village Energy Security Programme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The objective is to optimally use smarter control of distributed energy sources combined with intelligent management of loads to improve efficiency and reliability of the overall system.Design of Green Warehouse (10,000 MT capacity) Complex

The Energy Report – India:100% Renewable Energy by 2050
April 11, 2012 to
December 10, 2013
The objective of this study is to examine the possibility of increasing the share of renewables to 100% (or to as high as possible), to enable an appreciation of the role that renewables can play in India's energy future and assess the implications of such a dramatic change in the proposed energy mix. Based on the scenario approach using the MARKAL model, a BAU scenario would be compared with alternative scenarios representing increasing level of renewables.
Reclamation of back filled bauxite mine areas through afforestation activities at Lohardaga, Jharkhand
June 15, 2010 to
November 8, 2013
The aluminum industry in India is highly concentrated with relatively few players dominating the market. Hindustan Aluminum Company Ltd. (HINDALCO) is the largest among them, controlling about 40% of market share. The Industry is one among the flagship companies of Aditya Birla Group of Industries, which is one of the largest corporate groups of the country. HINDALCO strategically established its processing units closer to the mine areas in different parts of the country to achieve maximum benefits.Nitrate removal in membrane bioreactors using indigenous membranes
March 24, 2011 to
October 17, 2013
This work contributes towards the development of a modular nitrate removal system using the environment friendly biological route. Apart from nitrate contaminated water streams, it can also be studied for disposal of RO reject streams containing high nitrate content.Master plan to develop Faridabad as a 'Solar City'
April 1, 2009 to
October 10, 2013
The main objective of the proposed study is to prepare a comprehensive master plan for developing Faridabad as a solar city.Developing the city as a solar city requires an integrated urban planning approach, which simultaneously involves reducing reliance on fossil fuels by the application of energy conservation and efficiency measures and by replacing/complementing the conventional energy generation with the renewable energy. Towards this, the initiatives may include the following:
1. Use of passive building concepts in new buildings and rating of new buildings
Report on Building Design Optimization and Air Conditioning Design for Proposed Banquet Hall at Rohtak, Haryana
