Unlocking wastewater treatment

The project focuses on unlocking wastewater treatment, water reuse and resource recovery opportunities for urban and peri-urban areas in India. In collaboration with Central, State and local stakeholders and supported by industrial partners, the project aims to deliver cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions for the treatment and reuse of wastewater with resource recovery. The objective is to create policy and social support for innovative technologies and concepts through stakeholder engagement.

Innovative technologies such as ANDICOS (Anaerobic Digestion by Combining Organic Waste and Sewage), PAS (Photo Activated Sludge), SFDMBR (Self Forming Dynamic Membrane Bioreactor), Constructed Wetlands Plus are being deployed at the project sites.

TERI is leading the Indian consortium and contributing to creating policy and social support for innovative technologies and concepts through a co-creation process in which stakeholders are engaged in the framing of the problem and the creation of promising water management solutions. Problem-focused learning processes and decision-support models will lead to targeted decision-support for policy makers.
