Regeneration of plants from gametic and somatic tissues of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

In the proposed project, two aspects shall be dealt with in detail. Firstly, a protocol for plant regeneration from anther and isolated microspore culture of various genotypes in sesame shall be optimized. The second part deals with evaluation of regeneration potential of various explants such as leaf, cotyledon, hypocotyl and petiole in various genotypes of sesame and standardization of a method for shoot multiplication.
